Last Sunday, Ystradgynlais Under 8's, affectionately known as the Baby Blues, reached their first final of their short rugby careers.
The team have such a strong player base this season they were able to field two teams for the tournament. On their unbeaten route to the final, the Baby Blues played Crynant, Banwen and fierce rivals Abercraf in the group phase. Next came Skewen in the semi finals, where a close encounter saw the Blues just edge through with a try at the death to win 3-2.
After a long day for all the people who put in the effort to make the day a great success, the final between Ystrad and Bryncoch took place.
As anticipated, the game was a close battle, with the game going from end to end. Bryncoch taking the lead, and Ystrad replying immediately. This was the theme for the game and with the game poised at 2-2, Bryncoch took the advantage at 3-2 and tagged very well to stop the Blues reply.
With the final whistle looming, Bryncoch clinched the victory with the last play scoring in the corner to win 4-2.
It was a fantastic effort from all the players involved and the Baby Blues will look forward to the rest of the season before stepping up to the tackling form of the game next season.
YstradTV were at the event as proud sponsors to the Baby Blues taking pictures of the team throughout the day (see above) and wish the team every success in the future. If last Sunday was anything to go by, the Ystradgynlais motto of the future being bright, the future being Blue, is something that rings very true.
You can view more photos of all the teams involved at the competition courtesy of Riley Sports Photography, the leading sports photopraphy in the valleys at www.rileysportsphoto.com
Well done boys and to everybody who helped and took part on the day.

Good Luck To The Swans
Tonight, Swansea City will be playing their 5th round FA Cup replay against Fulham in London as they bid to go through to the Quarter Finals of the competition. If successful tonight the Swans, who are supporters of YstradTV, will face English, European & World Club Champions, Manchester United at the fortress that is the Liberty Stadium. The Swans have been excelling themselves this year and are pushing for promotion to the 'promised land' that is the Premier League, where games against the likes of Man Utd will be a weekly occurance.
I was at initial tie against Fulham at the Liberty Stadium a week last Saturday, where the Swans were extremely unlucky to be held to a draw, earning plaudits across the UK from football fans who had not seen their exciting brand of football.
You can get live commentary of the match by registering with Swans World on the Swans official website http://www.swanseacity.net/ which is available for a 30 day free trial at the moment.
YstradTV wish the boys the very best of luck for tonight and hope we get what we deserve and go through to the next round of the FA Cup.
You can still see YstradTV's interviews with the Swans and manager Roberto Martinez at ONtv News (see link on right hand side), where our young news team spoke to them about their Welsh derby match against Cardiff City.
