Healthy Living Centre Family Fun Day - Saturday 8th September

Hi All,

Just to let you know that our annual family fun day is taking place again this year on Saturday 8th September in the Healthy Living Centre, Pen Y Bryn.

The theme this year is 'Wild West' so lots of Cowboys and Indians please - children and adults!!

The parade through the estate will start at 12.30, leading to the centre where there will be fun and games until 4pm.

There will be a BBQ (snags and beans), stalls, car boot, games, competitions and live Country & Western music.

It's a fun day out for all the family - strictly no alcohol please.

Anyone wishing to have a stall, either for their organisation or as individuals, please contact us to book.

We are also looking for volunteers to help out on the day, either setting up beforehand or on the stalls during the afternoon.

Hope to see you all there,
Elaine and staff

Guess Who's Back...YTV's Back!

HELLLOOOOOOO BLOGGERS!!
How are we all? It's been far to long and after my withdrawal symptoms I'm nearly back on line!
"But you're writing this?" I hear you cry and yes you'd be right, but as of next week I'll be back on-line at home and back to blogging with a vengeance!

It's been a right hectic summer with myself and Caroline (my fellow YTV'er) working hard in partnership with Penrhos Youth Club's 'Splash' summer programme filming with the teenagers for our project 'Snap-Shot". It's been fun, stressful, rewarding and stressful (lol)!

In seriousness though, the teenagers have been brilliant and we look forward to finishing off the video and our big screening! But we'll talk more about this again in the future!

I just wanted to come on to let you all know, we shall be resuming normal service very, very shortly and I Luvs It!

So for now, I'll leave you all with a little video of one of the best programmes around, The X Factor! Say what you want about it, yes, some of the singer's aren't the greatest and you may not liek the live shows! But for the 1st few weeks it's all about the rejects and people like this great, great singer on the video...in fact I'd go as far as to say, she's the greatest ever X Factor competitor!

Until next time, chaw for naw!

World Cup Prediction Sheets - For Ystrad RFC Junior's Fundraiser

As part of Ystrad RFC fundraising for their Junior section, the club will be doing a prediction sheet for the up coming Rugby World Cup, with prizes for the winners (to be announced shortly).

To enter, just click on the form above to enlarge the image and then simply print your copy off. Fill in the neccesary sections and hand it in to any of the junior's coaches, behind the bar at Ystrad club or you can email them to us at YTV and we'll pass them on.

It will cost a pound to enter, so unless the money has been handed in, your form will not count.

Good luck and remember...It's For The Kids!

YTV To Have A Break!

Hello Bloggers!! I know the blog hasn't been the most up to date thing in the world of late, but that's because I am currently in the middle of moving house! For those who don't know, I am expecting my 1st child in little under 2 months, therefore the move is a neccessity and people who have gone through the ordeal in the past will know it's a testing time!

Anyway, just wanted to let the loyal readers know the score...I havn't left you, I shall return, all going well, normal service shall resume Monday!

Until then, I wanted to leave you with some thoughts for the week:

Ystrad RFC's Ty Croeso Appeal: Awsome work, yet again, by the boys in blue last weekend. Special mention to the man who is fast becoming the Upper Swansea Valley's version of Bob Geldof, Huw 'Shakey' Thomas! Shakey organised the football match between Ystrad RFC's firsts and seconds, which resulted in a 7-2 hammering for the rejects (only joking)!

On Sunday, the re-match of the Ystrad RFC v Cwm RFC cricket match took place. Again the game played in great spirits, unfortunately for the Village of the Boar, they lost out to Ystrad and next year's hope of a competition inolving more local teams has only been enhanced by the great work done by both teams! Big well done to Cwm and Ystrad!

You can read more about these matches at http://www.ystradgynlaisrfc.co.uk/

Gavin Henson: Come on, you know it would be mentioned! Gav hasn't made the World Cup squad (well the proper one anyway, but with Wales players tending to drop like World War II veterans, I'm sure he'll have some part to play!). What do you think about this decision? Leave us a comment.
My view: Great! Perhaps this will be the kick up the bum Gav needs! There's no doubting he's a talented lad, but he seems to have opted for the glamour a bit during his injuries. He should remember, without the rugby, he won't be a personality, other than being Charlotte's boyfriend!

The weather: At last! Sun! We knew it had to happen at some point...and about blinking time! Co-incidence though: Rhianna knocked off number 1 the same week the sun starts to shine!? Spooky! But great all the same - nice weather and the less we have to hear that song!

Penrhos Youth Club: Have to mention the great work Hugo, Marcia and the gang are doing up there. Summer holiday's can be boring for kids and annoying for parents, but Penrhos Youth Club's 'Splash' is on yet again all through the summer! It's a great place to send the kids (aged 11-16) with loads going on! YTV is regularly invited along by the team to do filming work shops and always goes down well.
YTV will be there on Tuesday to start our 'Snap-Shot' project, with the resulting films due to appear for the general public to see at a later date!

Heroes: The programme everyone is talking about! 1st 2 episodes last week...I very much enjoyed them and think it will be something I'll get into. Gutted I missed episode 3 tonight mind (due to the move...aaargh!), but the good people at BBC2 repeat the show tomorrow night (and Sunday night). It's all good! Let me know what you think in the comments.

Sport: IT'S BACK! The women moan around the country, the men jump for joy! This weekend we've got Wales v England in a friendly (no such thing with these 2 teams) then on Sunday the Community Shield Man Utd v Chelsea!

I've never noticed how much August is probably the most anticipated month of the year! Forget December with Christmas, it's August! Think about it! Sport returns for a start (the good sports anyway! lol), the "Hot Weather" supposedly arrives (even if it doesn't, we all wait in anticipation of it!), Holiday season when we all go away for our summer holiday's and school holiday's for the kids! It's so obvious! On a personal note too, my birthday! Presents greatfully received! haha!

So, there's a few things to keep you talking about for a few days, while I sign off for a wee break (that sounds like I'm going to the toilet). As always, feel free to leave your comments, remember It's Good To Talk!

So my bloggers, until next time, Thats all I have to say about that!
