YSTRADGYNLAIS PUBLIC BAND’S THANK YOU CONCERT & AWARD CEREMONYSATURDAY 12th JULY
Sarurday's concert by the Ystradgynlais’s Public Band is a thank you to its supporters. It is also a special event because the band has won an O2 It’s Your Community Award to enable them to buy more musical instruments. Catryn Lawrence – the Band’s Secretary and teacher has successfully taken the Band into local schools and organized open evenings to encourage young people to learn a musical instrument. This has been so successful that the Band needed more instruments to meet demand. The band is a valuable local asset as well as offering a place where children can meet socially. Their It’s Your Community award has enabled them to buy the additional instruments they required.
Ystradgynlais Public Band is over 100 years old and regularly performs in concerts and community events. After the concert Cllr. John Steadman will introduce Phil Radnor O2’s Swansea’s Store Assistant Manger to the Band and audience, and three young players will be receiving special awards for their performance during the year.
