HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

It's the day of luuurv again!

Men are frantically trying to get their partners something before their wives/girlfriends get home and the women are sitting smuggly in the knowledge, they have something and are tossing a coin at whether they are going to get anything that's not flowers from the garage!

But, for some, today is just another day, a claver marketing day that makes women crazy and the retailers rich! Not so much hoping, but knowing it would be nice to receive a card, a rose, or any kind of valetine gift!

Well, we here at YTV don't like to see people left out! So, this year, everyone's having a valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

WE LOVE YOU!

Glantawe Lions Club

In 2007 Glantawe Lions Club donated nearly £5000 to individuals andorganisations in the Upper Swansea Valley, and at the start of 2008 we must replenish our coffers for the next set of requests.
To do this we will be holding two raffles, the first is our Easter Egg Raffle, and the second will be our Grand Summer Raffle.

Our Easter Egg Raffle takes the form of an Easter Card with 60 names on it.
Each name costs £1, and the lucky winner will get a Giant 1 kilogramEaster Egg.
ALL of the profits from this will go to Glantawe Lions Club.

The Grand Summer Raffle we will be starting in May through to July.
This will take the form of a Book of Raffle Tickets, there will be many prizesto be won.
We will supply all of the prizes, the printing of the books and all of the distribution.

We will be asking organisations to sell them on our behalf, and in return we will give them 40% of their total sales in theform of a donation.

The Grand Summer Raffle gives organisations the chance to raise some extra cash, without the hassle of the organisation. All you have to do is sell the tickets.

If you would like to take part in the Summer Raffle, then all we ask is that you take a card for the Easter Raffle as well.

As I said ALL of the money from the Easter Raffle goes to Glantawe Lions, but you will get to keep 40% of your takings on the Grand Summer Raffle.

Easter is only 7 weeks away, so we need sellers as quickly as possible.

If you would like to take a card, and help Glantawe Lions then please email malcolm.curtis@glantawelions.org.uk or telephone me on 01792 524479.

Many Thanks

Finally!

I can't tell you how many people told me this exact same story:

Saturday, 4.45 pm, England lead Wales 16 - 6 at Twickenham. Many a proud Welshman (sorry, person!) thinks to himself "Same old story, next year!" Some people turned off, some decided to get ready for the night of sorrow drowning, some go to Tesco to get food! (Yes, people said these things to me!).

Then, a Welsh team re-appeared for the second half! A couple of tries by Lee Byrne, who had a good game for once, and Mike Phillips, a flawles kicking display from James Hook and we had finally beaten the old enemy for the 1st time in 20 years! The same people returned from what they went off to do and they were gutted!

Next it's Scotland, and we should take confidence and crack on with some results. But let's please not get too carried away. We were awful 1st half and we were just better than a really shocking England team in the 2nd half!

As Kelly Jones sang, "As long as we beat the English, we don't care!" Yes this is true to a point, but now we've beaten them, it's now all about beating the Scots!

Good luck the boys!

New Show Airing

Two weeks ago, a new show aired. The show's content...Ystradgynlais RFC, the show's name... 'Blue Velvet - Smooth Going's On From The Club'.

Every week, Blue Velvet aires on YouTube and their very own blog:

The show features highlights from games (filmed by YstradTV) and a bit of fun about the club. It's a bit of a laugh, so check it out at their blog when you get a chance.
(Note: There is one word of language in the 1st episode)

YstradTV is 1 Years Old!

There was a milestone reached last week and it went slightly overlooked! Although Ystradgynlais Media Trust Ltd is now in its 6th year, last January, YstradTV was born.

A branch of Ystradgynlais Media Trust, YstradTV was set up to bring the people of the Upper Swansea Valley a voice and to showcase some of the talent that is in the area.

Many thought, "Yes, that's a good idea...BUT, will it be sustained?"

Well, we're now celebrating our 1st birthday and have many exciting projects already planned for 2008, thanks to securing funding from Communities @ One.

It's sure to be an exciting year, with the "Valley's Digital Explosion" project due to kick off in February half term, with 'Snap Shot 2' taking place. The last project was a huge success, with many of the original 'Snap Shot' members returning for 'the sequel!'

"Valley's Digital Explosion" will rumble on with two further projects, due to begin in March.

I can't wait to get started and as always, keep checking the Blog for new films and music from our great little area.
